Is it worth doing if you don’t have a Slipper Clutch/upgraded clutch facia plate or will it look a bit cack? Also is there any extra maintenance to do after fitting eg blowing it out with an air line?
I've got a carbon half cover and no crap gets into it as the fairing covers the front. All fines are allowed to get blown out by the very nature of the cover. The only downer is that there is an amount of surface rust appearing on the springs, but you can't see them with the naked eye anyway.
Andy, I used to have a full carbon cover but after lowsiding at donington it gave zero protection to the clutch and I snapped 4 of the 6 springs/posts on the clutch. I'd seriously suggest replacing it with something more solid.
I've heard the same thing about the carbon ones. I would go for one of the cnc ones and even then I would probably replace it with the original for track days etc just in case! I already do it with the bodywork so what's a few more bolts to undo!
Mood: R U thinking what I'm thinking?......Oh dear!
The original is no guarantee of protection against damage either. My 996 bip fell over at 0 mph in the pit road at donnington, I was stupid enough not to check fully for damage before I fired it up and off came a clutch post. All this with a standard cover. Still rode home with 5 posts but not recommended.
