Downchange problem

Took my bike out for a pre Almeria spin to check it was all fine and............found that occasionally when changing down the gears would be solid - ie wouldn't change down at all. Seemed to be only on downchanges - weird - never had it before and have no idea what might cause it - only done 200 since it was serviced, but that was a few months ago (shame on me!). Felt like the clutch wasn't engaging?

Any suggestions??????

Cheers

Chris

This sounds vaguely familiar As JHP told me "Stamp on it"! Should work fine then!!

try under the big nut on the back of the crank cases, LHS just above the swing arm pivot.
Also check gear linkage rod end bearings as they can go stiff and cause problems, also if the gearchange arm isn't in the correct position on the spline it can have problems but this is usually associated with up changes

Check your clutch, take the pressure plate off and see if the HUGE nut that holds the clutch drum in place is tight.

You haven't got a slipper in there have you?

JP - no slipper, a jhp lightweight clutch which has been good (my second) - better than oe ones that's for sure!
