No change in performance (it doesn't give you any extra power!) but it does make the bike feel a lot quicker as it sacrifices the top end for acceleration.
I really like it - 150mph in the UK is just unrealisitic so it makes sense to do it.
When I renewed my chain and sprockets, I went for a standard front sprocket (14t - about 16 quid from Ducati) a TSS alu quick-release from
http://www.ducati-shed.com/ with 38 and 40 sprockets to match (£118 inc VAT/delivery) and a Tsubaki Omega gold chain (96 link) from
http://www.bandcexpress.co.uk/ at about £74 inc VAT/delivery.
However, the heavy duty Tsubaki chain is a bit overkill for the 748 so next time I'd spend the extra tenner or so on a Renthal or DID gold instead as these are just as good but have smaller links and thus lighter.
