Belts - is it true?

A friend of mine told me the other day that a Renault Cleo uses the same belts as a 916 and that they are about half the price of the Ducati oem ones!

Has anyone else heard of this and tried them or is it even true - he didn't know if they are the 'Red' Kevlar ones or not which I always use

Any comments appreciated

When I was researching 916's, I came across this on the web, although I cannot vouch for its accuracy:

Gates HTD 58095x17mm (same as 1.1 Clio), available from local motor factor.

belts

58095 x 17 HSN is a manufacturers part no,Gates part no is 5192xs.I work for a factors in Ashtead and trade them 15-46 plus vat. I would like to add from Gates blurb "Use Gates products only on applications specified in Gates literature.Gates disclaims all liability due to failure to follow these instructions"
