Carbon belt covers ... will they fit

Hi,
I have a 2003 749's with DP carbon belt covers. I've been offered a set of the newer 2005 carbon belt covers, but, they are very different in depth etc.

Would anyone know if the 2005 carbon belt covers with the vents in etc will fit a 2003 bike ?

Yep,should fit no problem.
To get the best from the front cyl vent, you may have to cut a bigger hole in the fairing vee peice. The air is ducted from the vee, through the cambelt cover. You dont have to do it,...but what is the point of having vents and not using them?
I fitted the carbon vee peice from my '02 bike to my '05 'S'.I cut a vent hole in it,then covered the hole with mesh.Looks good.

OK, so in theory they should fit.

Just tried swapping the vertical cover. Took the seat and tank unit off, removed the crank case breather pipe and slipped the current cover upwards and off the bike. The new 2005 cover is considerable "Deeper or thicker" depending on your view point and does not want to squeeze down between the belt drive and frame .... any suggestions (that do not involve hacksaws) on how to fit the cover.

Should it slide in from the top or is there some sort of funky "karmasutra" position I should adopt to fit the vertical belt cover.

Yep,according to the DP catalogue they are not model specific,so should fit all 749/999.The one fitted in the pic does look very close to the frame tho.

DP96443303B The carbon belt guards kit which includes V piece etc etc fits all models of 749 / 999.

If you have the 05 version of 96952703B, which is the belt cover kit then the number quoted only fits all 749 / 999 up to model year 04 with the exception of the 999R only up to 03 model year.

As Keefy says the kit version does look tight. When I fitted the cover kit version the depth of the parts was similiar to the ones I took off however there were less bolt holes.

Hope that helps.

Did you manage to get them to fit??

i've bought a set of 05's and am having same problem fitting to my 04 999S, the vertical cover won't go between frame and engine , only way i can see is to remove engine.
