Will probably be a category 'C' write off, which basically means it costs too much to fix, but is still easily repaired to be road worthy again. You can get to keep the bike and could easily fix it by the sounds of it with the cash you get and still have money in your pocket. There are a couple of people in insurance on the site with more knowledge than me, mine is from bitter experience. Don't accept their first second or third offers - it's just a clerk with a guide in front of them.
Thanks for that. What I'm not sure about is how much to offer the insurance co if they decide to write off, which they will I'm sure. Let's assume they offer (for the sake of argument) £10k, how much should I offer for a bike that needs £7500 of new parts to fix. I'm aware that I could get it sorted for less than half that, but never written a bike off before so all advice welcome.

B998,
The price for the second hand Bostrom is what you should used to get them up their offer if need be.
Only pay what the salvage is worth to you. Do some realistic costs of what you think it will cost to repair. Are you gonna do it all yourself?
Then when they make you an offer for the bike, take off what you think will be the costs to you to arrive at what will be a reasonble price for the salvage to you.
It is all too easy to underestimate the costs, believe me, little bits can soon add up or you end up spending ages getting all the bits together second hand. There can be a load of hassle involved in repairing a crashed bike and if you ever want to sell it people can be wary.
The nightmare free option is take the cash and buy another one, but with a relatively rare bike like this trying to find another could be a problem!!
Thanks Ray, that is sort what I thought I should do and I suspect the hassle of trying to sell a bike after such surgery is a pain. But I do love the bike and will just have to find another I guess...!
They've just said they're going to repair it, which is probably good news. Frame fine and scuffed bits can be kept for track days. Good result I hope!!!!

A good result woulda been them replacing it and selling you the salvage for 3K
