Desparately seeking 900SS

Hi all,
I have been on and off this forum for a couple of years or so, but since selling my last duke in 2003, I just keep coming back! The truth is that I have wanted another ever since flogging the last one for an R6, followed by a gaggle of jap crap and scooters! (I now ride a 400 Burgervan.... the shame! )
Money for me is always an issue, but to be fair, even if it was not my love is still the carb 900ss!
I have owned three SS’s, one 750 and two 900’s, but since owning a gaggle of Jap bikes again, nothing seems to float my boat like a thundering SS being caned down a twisty road.
I have travelled over the continent several times on a Duke, without a hitch other than a bolt rattling off in Andora. I find them easy to service and repair, and fairly cheap to run.
Hence, I am after another, but……… cheap it must be, as I intend to build something a little different this time.
If anyone out there has, or knows of a sound but tatty 900ss going cheap, non runner or crashed bike included, let me know.
I need my Duke fix, and want it now!
Well fairly soon anyway.

Regards
Levers

You MAY(?) want to expand your hunt to include 748's as they're getting to be quite "affordable" (to buy but may be more costly to maintain) now too. Good luck in your hunt, I'm sure you'll find something to meet your requirements. Let us see how you're "beast" develops!

Hi Levers,

There was aguy on here looking to sell his 900SS for about £1400 a while back. Somewhere in Norfolk if I remember rightly. Otherwise just watch the ads. There were some beauties around when I bought my superlight last year for about £2k.

Cheers,

ali

No thanks. I like the 900ie, but being an old git I like the old git bike. Hope you sell her okay though.
And the one in Norfolk, I am in the process of trying to contact him, and await reply.
To give you an idea of how tight.. er poor I am, I bought my last Duke, a 750ss for £800. So they are around for that sort of dough. I'll just have to be patient.
Thansk for replying.

Just a reminder that I've got an "Old Git" bike for sale. Check the link below my avatar.
It also doesn't need anything doing and I'm asking more than Levers can afford.

Hi Derek,
Nice bike, but in my hands it may end up looking similar to this! But in Red of course!
Or even a retro copy of a 60's cafe racer, if I can somehow get an alloy tank to fit.

So you need a cheap bike so you can afford all the expensive bits you want to bolt on to it?
Trouble with cheap bikes is they often need expensive repairs which can make them not so cheap.
