Wiring problem has me baffled?

Here goes,
DD 620. the battery went caput at Oulton on Wednesday fitted a new one every thing was ok. So now when i switch the ignition on the fuel pump engages but the solenoid just clicks, the bike starts if i bridge the solenoid or run a seperate live and earth to it. When the plug is disconnected from the solenoid and the ignition is on it shows 12v on one wire and 3v on the other plug it back in and it shows 12v in both before you press the starter button.

Also after the fuel pump has primed when you press the starter and the solenoid just clicks the pump primes again. This probably makes no sense but any comments are welcome.

Thanks.

Has me baffled, if it was any of the heavy duty starter wiring then brif=dging it out or running seperate feed and earth to pull the solinoid in wouldn't work, but as you say both those test work OK thn it can't be the starter cables. And as feeding the Starter solinoid with seperate 12V and Earth works then it cant be the solinoid.

May be its a poor earth connection to the ECU

The starter button Earths pin 28 on the ECU Body connector (Red/Orange Wire) and if all interlocks (Neutral/Clutch/Sidestand) are correct it then earths the starter solinoid via Pin 1 of the ECU body connector (Red/Black wire)

Check the starter button wiring down to the solenoid.

Phil as per my post the starter button doesn't go to the solinoid on a 620
It gets a 12V feed and then the other side is earthed by the ECU, with the ECU getting a signal from the Start button

Yes i did. Turned out to be the new battery. It would take a charge so showing 12v+ but if it was put under any load would drop out down to 2 or 3v. Simple i know but it is so easy not to look for the obvious. My tiny jump starter did'nt work because the duff battery sucked all the charge out of it. Another new battery cured it.
Another lesson learnt eh.
