Police cloaking device? Saw a strange sight on my way into work this morning. Traveling along the M4 Eastbound was a marked police car towing the rear half of a black taxi. Is this some attempt to hide from speeding motorists who won't see the jam sandwhich til it's too late? |
If thats the case the've reached a new level of lowness to pray on easy money making targets. |
Would like to see them give chase! |
Are you being serious? Was it actually a proper cut in half taxi with all the proper towing bar attached to the front? |
Yup. Proper job - full A frame to a tow hitch quite close to the back of the car. If the intention is to be a disguise then it works quite well as I didn't spot it until I was along side at which point I did a double take ==> :o |
That's incredible if it's an attempt to disguise the panda car! |
I'm sure there's a perfectly reasonable explanation. Perhaps they were going into the city to demonstrate to road users how to cut up a taxi. |
Or just collecting more revenue whilst out on their daily rounds? |
Legal speed for towing on a motorway is 60 mph, so how fast were they going??? Unless with blues & twos on a 'shout' they should be obeying the law.... Jas |
Or perhaps they were simply recovering the trailer off the motorway for safety....no, that would be too obvious! |
Yeah, cos you see a lot of taxis-converted-to-trailers littering the hard shoulder ;) |
maybe its a new form of fine collection, poor taxi driver did not have enough funds to cover the on the spot fine, so they cut his cab in half  |

Maybe the Taxi was pushing a broken down Police car off the motorway for safety reasons. |
:lol::lol: All of the above are of course just as likely...... I like the fine idea most though...... Just think of the fun you could have with a Stihl saw & a max power gathering! |
