Police cloaking device?

Saw a strange sight on my way into work this morning. Traveling along the M4 Eastbound was a marked police car towing the rear half of a black taxi. Is this some attempt to hide from speeding motorists who won't see the jam sandwhich til it's too late?

Are you being serious? Was it actually a proper cut in half taxi with all the proper towing bar attached to the front?

Yup. Proper job - full A frame to a tow hitch quite close to the back of the car. If the intention is to be a disguise then it works quite well as I didn't spot it until I was along side at which point I did a double take ==>

That's incredible if it's an attempt to disguise the panda car!

I'm sure there's a perfectly reasonable explanation. Perhaps they were going into the city to demonstrate to road users how to cut up a taxi.

Legal speed for towing on a motorway is 60 mph, so how fast were they going???

Unless with blues & twos on a 'shout' they should be obeying the law....

Or perhaps they were simply recovering the trailer off the motorway for safety....no, that would be too obvious!
