Serious problem

I might .... MIGHT... have dropped a small piece of rubber from my bell mouth seal down the injector bodies!!!
Now would this be a problem and do I need to take the engin apart or as it is just a small piece of rubber seal will it burn up and not be a problem:puzzled:

Ummmmmm.......

Try taking the plugs out and the pipes off and turning it over on the starter to see if you can push it out.

At your risk. Of course...if it goes horribly wrong ....it's not my fault!

If it make you feel better, I was once doing an oil change on my 748SP when a small stone fell out of the fairing and into oil the filler hole. Italia took the **** out of me for weeks after that and that little episode cost me about £400! :borg:

mmmmm,

depends how big this bit of rubber is.:puzzled:

If its a bit as in "tiny" sliver from the rubber o ring that goes around the belmouth as it clicks into the injector body, I would say you should be ok. It would burn up.

If its hard rubber. Or getting on for more than a tiny bit. I would say that it shouldnt be in there.
I would be looking for ways to try and get it out. After all, dropping things into the cylinder head is a no no, and really does go against the grain.:o

What ever happended to covering these sorts of holes when working on the bike? Good workshop practice.;)

Hope you sort it and dont spend to much money.

DC.

It's the small piece from the o ring.

Everything had been covered up, I had just removed it all to attach the bell mouths.:rodent:

what you need is RVI (remote visual inspection) and retrieval gear..

some garages have this sort of stuff (we use it !!)

a 5mm fibre scope with small retrieval taped to it could go in your plug hole and find and grab it .

i deal with olympus if you want i could talk to them to see if a rep could give you a "demonstration"on your bike ;);)

Dave...are you really trying to say:

'I might .... MIGHT... have dropped a small piece of rubber from my RUBBER MALLETT down the injector bodies!!!'

Sorry...few beers heavy, just couldn't resist:P

Didn't know you were getting the injector bodies powder coated also:frog:

To answer your question...I ain't got a friggin' clue:puzzled:

Fordie 13-Jan-2006 23:50

Dave ,if its any concilation I had a 8mm socket drop into my bell mouth after having the belts changed by a local dealer, when the bike went in for a full service 3000 miles later the mechanic not the same firm , found the said socket still in the inlet port. Lucky maybe . Take a look you to may be lucky. 4D
