Bleeding Clutch
 

I've just replaces my clutch with a Brembo radial M/C and the slave cylinder with one of a 996R (mines a 1999 996 bip).
I eventually got the clutch fluid though and have tightened everything up.
But now I cannot move the clutch lever, what have I done wrong?

Wrong size clutch push rod? There are two sizes depending on the slave cylinder type - of which there are more than one!

Sorry I can't be more specific, maybe Nelly can give you the exact details.

As far as I know (which isn't much ;) ) the pushrod diameter changed when the clutch slave changed.
If you look at the external face of the slave cylinder, if it's the new type instead of a flat face it will have a star shaped (TORX) insert. If you have this type then you should have changed the pushrod for the new type to match at same time.
The lever not moving at all would indicate a mechanical problem of some kind rather than hydraulic. Whip the cylinder off again and check that the pushrod is moving and that all is ok.

Yep I changed it from a flat face to a torx style one.

Pushrod to suit it is then. Give the usual suspects a call they'll get one in or send one to you. :)

Hmmm problem.....Even with the cylinder removed it still isn't budging:puzzled:

Any thoughts?

Strip down clutch on other side, easy peasy, cover off, spring bolts undo, remove pressure plate, pushrod now accessable.
If you have to take clutch pack out (you shouldn't but who knows) make sure you keep them in exactly the same order as they came out. Tres importante!!
Pushrod locates in a small bearing within the pressure plate.

But surely with the cylinder removed the lever should now move, this isn't happening.....I'm I being stupid here!!!

Right, be careful of spillage here. If you back bleed the cylinder(push the internal piston within the clutch slave) back what happens?
The piston should make it's way inside the cylinder pushing fluid back up the line into the reservoir (remember spillage). Is piston seized??

Sorted, what had happened is the piston was fully extended and as I don't have the correct push rod it would not push the piston back.
