seat pad screw

took the bike out yesterday for a quick blast, and after about 20 minutes into the ride, i felt the back pad start to fall off. i didn't manage to catch it in time, and it fell off. i went back and found the pad, but unfortunately it had been run over several times. it was completely ripped and the screw gone. anyway, i am planning to get the pad re-upholstered, but i still need the screw. does anyone know whether the D clip screw is replaceable?

I assume you've tried the obvious - a Ducati dealer? Failing that, have a look at the Dzus web site (http://www.southco.com/landingpages/dzus/).

If you need someone to recover the seat pad, I can recommend RD Designs, 2Milne Walk, Hartlepool, TS25 3RQ. They did an excellent (and quick) job on mine when I wanted a thinner one made up.

I think they are about £40 from a dealer....The same thing happened to mine but I lost the pad too. I got one off ebay but with postage etc. only saved £5 off the dealer price. Haven't got round to sorting the clip out yet.

The screw is/was recently available do you need a part number?

Rgds, Rob

sorry for the late reply. thanks for the info everyone.

Rob, yes please on that part number. I will take the pad to a local upholsteror tomorrow to see if they can do anything with it.

Out of interest how much was the pad?

Cris 16-Aug-2006 10:48

around £45 + £6 for the pin. both arrived this morning. now all i have to do is get it MOT'd. ran out beginning of march.........Oops!!

the pin is just the pin though, no washer that stops it from falling off again. it's very loose. you have to get some sort of retainer to keep it in place.

I stck a strip of tape over the 'D' ring as a tempory measure about 5 years ago, its still there!!

Mike.

The seatpad screw needs a hard nylon washer. try ordering part 85040081A
