make a difference? thinking 9l sloshing about a 17l tank it may be worthwhile, not sure how much weight it adds

skidlids 18-Nov-2011 17:52

Doesn't add much weight, I have a decent sized lump of it in the garage.

I doubt if Dallas has had a race bike where he hasn't fitted the baffle foam, I think but would need to check that its a requirement at BSB level and above

Jolley 18-Nov-2011 17:58

I'm pretty sure they have to use it in 848 challenge too.

Glad you knew what I meant Chaz, hence the wording 'BSB Level' and not 'BSB Class'

bradders 18-Nov-2011 18:10

so its a good thing then

lots of small blocks or one big one? How much?

skidlids 18-Nov-2011 18:14

You will end up cutting it into blocks to get it into the tank, what size blocks depends on the tank and its entry points

bradders 18-Nov-2011 19:02

so do you fill the tank, half fill it, 1/4?

my simple mind wonder how the fuel gets out again!

Gbyte666 18-Nov-2011 19:40

Gravity I would imagine Paul, Just been looking it up myself now you have mentioned it. Seems a great addition whilst my tank is off the 996 and the pump is out. Push it in and mould it in it says.
·ELIMINATES FUEL STARVATION UNDER HARD ACELLERATION, CORNERING AND OFF ROAD SITUATIONS.
·ELIMINATES FUEL FROTHING.
·REDUCES RISK OF EXPLOSION IF TANK CATCHES FIRE.
·REDUCES THE DISCHARGE RATE OF FUEL SPILL IF THE TANK IS RUPTURED.
·ELIMINATES FUEL SLOSH AND UNWANTED WEIGHT TRANSFER GREATLY IMPROVING RIDER STABILITY WHEN ITS NEEDED MOST.

the red one.......

seriously tho, do you squash it all in so it totally fills the tank and you can see it with the cap off?

skidlids 18-Nov-2011 20:29

I usually pack it in using the biggest Chunks I can squeeze through the hole, although the size does depend on where in the tank they sit as sometimes the front of the tank can be quite shallow

Jasper 18-Nov-2011 22:18

Is there a UK supplier of this or similar?

skidlids 18-Nov-2011 22:23

Merlin Motorsport based at Castle Combe use to sell it, not sure if they still do.
Otherwise you can usually find it sold on Ebay

bradders 18-Nov-2011 22:26

ebay is the link Craig copied from - £5 per 2l block

Rattler 18-Nov-2011 23:43

Oh yeh?
Take the fuel pump out and stuff in from underneath.

Cubes are good - the ones I bought are here;

bradders 19-Nov-2011 11:58

sorry but no one has said if you fill it to the top - ie you can see it with the cap off...

Bionicle 19-Nov-2011 14:23

Used to be able to see it from the filler hole on my 1098S dont think it makes that much difference on a DD bike unless your filling your tank to the top, natuarly any petrol not in the foam will slosh around

Jasper 19-Nov-2011 18:48

Thanks mate.
