Broken toes?

Any nurses etc here? Think I may have broken a toe(s)

Before I went out tonight I was making a spirited dash across the living room and stubbed my little toe and the toe next to it very hard on an imovable object. Done this plenty of times before but this time I heard a 'pop' noise? My girlfriend was there at the time and flet sick with what she heard / saw. After loads of hopping about and swearing I went out to meet some friends and just managed to get some slip on shoes on.

Been hobbling about all night but its got worse and I came home as I could barely walk. Got my shoes off and the toe next to my little toes is very swollen and gone all funny colours. I can also move it in ways that the toe on my other foot will not. Its now hurting like mad and tingling.

Do you think its broken? Have been very lucky re broken bones over the years so I havent a clue? Advice received tonight was to not bother with hospital but to apply ice and sellotape it to the next good toe.

Any better advice?

Not a medical person, however when I broke a finger it swelled up around the break very quickly. I would get it looked at, best not to go tonght to A&E as it will be filled up with drunks who have been fighting. Nor go on Sunday afternoon as it will be full with footballers with broken toes!

Any better advice?

Lop it off with a pair of bolt croppers.

I heard that explorer geezer Ranalph Fienes did something similar to his toes/fingers after he got back to UK, suffering from frostbite. :o:o:o:o

Broken or dislocation possibly?

As FE says, a little trot to A & E (taking the sunday papers etc) before the local football clubs go trooping in after morning matches.

If broken, will take a few days (about a week to 10 days) for the swelling to go down, just practice heel walking, but be carefull not to 'throw' your ankle at the same time by hurrying, as this can damage the muscles & tendons surrounding. The pain can be excruciating for the same time too, and they wont be completely healed for up to 6 weeks.

C, with rather too much experience of broken toes, having been in the horseworld for a long time, but only dislocated one once - and that was enough!!!:o

I have chipped the last bone in my big toe and its never really healed as such, still sort of grinds if i wiggle the end of it. Doc first said nowt was broken but x-ray showed it chipped on the end said not much can do about it unless i kept weight off it for ever it will never heal properly:o:o

Note to self try not to run upstairs to fast :lol::lol:
