Broken toes?

Any nurses etc here? Think I may have broken a toe(s)

Before I went out tonight I was making a spirited dash across the living room and stubbed my little toe and the toe next to it very hard on an imovable object. Done this plenty of times before but this time I heard a 'pop' noise? My girlfriend was there at the time and flet sick with what she heard / saw. After loads of hopping about and swearing I went out to meet some friends and just managed to get some slip on shoes on.

Been hobbling about all night but its got worse and I came home as I could barely walk. Got my shoes off and the toe next to my little toes is very swollen and gone all funny colours. I can also move it in ways that the toe on my other foot will not. Its now hurting like mad and tingling.

Do you think its broken? Have been very lucky re broken bones over the years so I havent a clue? Advice received tonight was to not bother with hospital but to apply ice and sellotape it to the next good toe.

Any better advice?
