Front Brake Pipes I have a choice of brake hose/pipes either the original 1 into 2 set up or using 2 seperate pipes. 1.....what is the better set up to use. 2..... if i go for the 2 seperate pipes how can i fix these so they dont clank around. the original has the clip on the mudgaurd to hold the hose how can i hold hoses |
I don't know which layout has an advantage, if any but, I prefer the two separate lines. Fixing them in place is easy - buy some rubber lined p-clips from the likes of M&P or MPS. Fix the p-clips to the lower yoke. If it doesn't already have tapped holes you can do this yourself. |
Lower yoke you say. i was a bit dubious of this as the yoke is hollow is this some thing youve done. ?? are you meaning just a small hole and self tapper. ? under yoke or front/ back |
Nah...I did it on my SV650. I haven't looked at the SS yet but, I daresay it's not difficult. I used a 4.5mm drill and a battery powered drill. Then I tapped it out with a 5mm tap. If you're dubious about it then why not just use cable ties? |
I'm to change to twin lines on the 996 but don't plan to secure them on the way up. I think they're stiff enough not to flap in the breeze aren't they? |
Pretty much dude...it's that you need to worry about them flapping around - you need to pin them out of the way so that they don't rub against anything. Braided hose is quite abrasive and can do damage. |
You're not wrong - I had a line on my blade rub a hole in the radiator! Always careful with the routing now, and use lines with plastic wrap stuff on them. [Edited on 4-3-2006 by NBs996] |
