Stubborn stains . . . . .

Decided that as the forks were out the bike, I'd give them a really good clean. Problem is, they seem to be covered in what I can only describe as "water" marks. Also, where the triples and the clip-ons have been clamped has left a perfect dirty outline of them on the fork legs.

I've tried everything in my (extensive) arsenal to remove the marks, with no success. Don't want to use anything abrasive for obvious reasons!

Products used so far:

Muck-off, Gunk, parafin, thinners, acetone, isopropanol, brake cleaner, tar and bug remover, WD40, washing up liquid, shampoo(?) etc etc etc.

Is there any miracle cleaner out there that I've missed? I'm open to suggestions . . . . .

Thanks, Neil

Of course the marks on the top of the forks are good guides when you come to rebuild the front end!

You did measure everything before you took it apart (like i did!!!)??

Toothpaste?!?!

Hadn't thought of that but will certainly give it a try - I'm sure the missus has just bought herself a nice new toothbrush, gotta be better than my old worn out one!

Neil748r,

It might be that water has somehow got under the lacquer on the Forks. I don't know for sure if ther forks on your bike have been lacquered but if this is the problem no amount of polishing is gonna cure the problem.

You have to strip the lacquer off clean 'em up and re lacquer em,

Ray
