If you use one then make sure that it doesn't "lock" the wheel by using the valve, you can probably guess the rest........................................
The pic doesn't show the stand in it's full details as there seems to be something going on which i can't make out clearly.
On the face of it the grip is about as useful as a rubber nail.
On a positive note i'd estimate that the handle weighs approximately 2kg and at the current rate of £70 per tonne for waste steel/iron you should comfortably recoup a grand total of approximately 14pence for the handle at your local scrap merchant.
Spend your hard earned winnings wisely - or but a decent Micron stand.

I think the idea of the rubber grip is to prevent damage to your wheel when you are putting 160 odd or whatever Nm force through it when fitting / removing the nut? That said you dont need it if you have another person to hold the back brake on!
I have an FG version of this stand.. It has been so usefull. The wheel lock idea is great. Never had any grief and would not see any point in buying one without.
