Starting problems. Help!!!!!!!!!!!

Iv had starting problems for a while but just put up with them.
I think I have traced the problem to a badly corroded starter motor terminal but I cannot remove the nut. so the only answer is to remove the starter motor but to do this I need to remove the left hand engine caesing to acces 2 of the starter motor bolts.
Q: Do I need to drain the oil?
Q: Will I need to bleed the clutch when refiting?
Q: Is there a quick solution?
I have a Haynes manual but this info isnt in it.

The bike wont even turn over know even when I jump start it from a power pack. I think it may be the relay.
Im geting 12v in and when I press the starter button I get nothing out. Iv disconected the lead from the swith to the relay and tested the lead and Im geting 9v.
Any sugestions.

STU - might be the starter solenoid at fault.

Apparently, you need to be brave and arc across the two posts / terminals on the solenoid body - mine easy as I turned the solenoid around so the posts face outwards.

I imagine you'd have to be VERY careful not to earth against something else in a standard setup.

My starter motor was exactly the same - I disconnected the battery and was able to get a ring spanner on the nut while holding the top of the post using long legged pliers - lots of releasing fluid later and all was well.

There was a post on here ages ago recommending a starter motor rebuilder as well that I will check out as I have a spare starter motor that I might well get overhaulled...

Starter motor overhaul.
