while checking the bike over and giving it a clean the other day i noticed that there was condensation on the oil level window is this normal ??????????
Have you been running it up over the winter in between storage ? I've been told that running a bike up without using it, (which is what I USED to do in the winter) - is the worst thing to do.
Parts heat up too quickly as the engine hasn't got any cooling air running at it.
Running it up without using it or running it to a temperature that won't dispel any condensation can cause such an issue.
Just because the temp' gauge shows normal it doesn't mean that the engine temperature is normal. The gauge is only showing water temperature - actual engine temperature can be somewhat lower in winter.
A natural effect of running an engine and letting it cool in damp winter weather will form condesation on hot engine parts as they cool.
Engine oils have emulsion agents to help disperse this condensation in the engine oils. The first decent long run on a warm day will heat up the oil and engine parts to the right heat that will "flash off" the condensation.
