M.O.T Failed???

Took my 996 in for a M.O.T today and it failed on the head light diping the wrong way. I had the test done by the Woking M.O.T centre I must say they were very thorough even ran my bike on a rolling road to check the brakes and everything. Anyway it failed so how come Snell's past it for the last two years with the same head light in??
The head light is the original one, I also have one that I bought form the Spares Shack, UK spec they said cost me well over £200.0 and that has the dip going the same way The guy at the test centre said take it apart and bend the deflector around the other way and that should work Any one done this or had this problem
I have stripped one down but can't see how bending it around the other way will help looks like I will have to re make one at work not too much of a problem but so inconvenient.

Had the same problem with my 851.....

Piece of red insulating tape on the appropriate part of the glass fixed it.

It then passed.

I did the same as Nat suggests.
Geoff Baines sold me a replacement deflector plate for my imported 916 back in 1997 for less than a tenner. It's a simple job. Once you have got the headlamp unit out it is just two small screws to get the USA/European plate off and replace it with a UK/Japan/Aussie one.

i find that alot of dealers have different views on passing MOT's mine failed on my front wheel rims because they had a tiny kink in them from the dreadded pot holes but i was told from the local tyre fitters that they would have passed it ?????????????????
