Just acquired an '04 999r with the Volvo-like headlight arrangement, with headlight on/off switch blanked off & dipped beam permanantly on (other than when starting). Would appreciate advice on whether its possible and straightforward to replace the switch for a standard 749/999 on/off without having to modify the wiring? ie does the necessary wiring run into the existing switch but is simply not connected/utilised? Want to be a little kinder to the battery...thanks.
I think all 749 / 999 have same switch as yours, my 749S is the same, dip on all the time. If ignition is on but motor not running it turns itself off after a short time to save the battery.
Thanks..my '03 749s has an on/off switch and I know that the only previous owner didn't modify it, so maybe all post '03 749/999's have the same silly arrangement?? I personally like to have the power (sorry) of choice over the headlight being on...

Does your's have it to JPM?
Now you're asking a question I just can't answer, mine never ran on the road with lights on, first thing I did was whip the headlight assembly off and fit a trackday kit
my 03 749s has the switch my 04 749r has no switch. I'd also like to take control back.
I have a track day fairing with no headlight cut outs. If I leave the headlight switched on it will melt the track day fairing. Would rather be able to switch it off, if not looks like wires off the back of the low beam when I fit the track day set up
