I've got the Cornerspeed version fitted and I cannot think of a downside at all.
Unless you include having to buy one in the first place... should have been standard IMHO

I converted mine back to the old "flip-up" design. Once you're used to it, I don't have a problem with it.

Sidestand switches are just an electrical problem waiting to happen, sited in the worst place for getting muck and rain in them. And they're not just a problem on Ducatis, either. Just read any web bike forum.

bought a sidestand bypass kit from nelly at cornerspeed about october last year, fitted brill and uses oe style fitments,so no probs, have given it and all electrical connections a liberal coating of wd40 every time i clean the bike but then i did that with all my jap shi?e anyhow, best £25 i ever spent.nothing worse than sitting on your bike waiting for it to warm up!!

I wired up one myself, cost only pence but it took me a while, If I had charged myself for the time it probably isn't worth it!!!

The proper kit from Nelly looks part of the bike and is easy to fit.

The info on how to make one yerself is somewhere on the board.

Nelly\'s your man....

.....top piece of kit.

You can make one yourself, but I'm not sure that this would incorporate the "engine cut-out if you engage gear with the sidestand down thingy"

Rtlr,

You can go two ways with the DIY job.

One is just removing the switch and putting a loop/jumper between two connections in the bare plug left. This means that you can run the bike with the sidestand down but set off with the side stand down unless you make further mods.

Two involves running a wire from the neutral switch withyan electrical thingy in it to a the sidestand switch plug, this allows the engine to run with the sidestand down but as soon as you select a gear with eh stand down i.e. the neutral light goes out the engine cuts.

DIY method one is quick but could involve pain if you set off with the side stand down.

DIY method two takes a while, well it did for me, but is basically what all the proper kits do.

Unless you are reasonably confident with electrickery buy the proper kit!!

Ray.

I got my kit from Bike Gizmos. (they have a wesite)
They are in Australia but delivery time was less than a week from placing my order.
This one uses Ducati style weatherproof connectors and only cost me £21 including postage from Oz
