when i first got my st2 it was a horrible ride, the front always felt unstable, it also used to eat the front tyre on the side. after much advice from members i had a good play with me front suspension settings and basicly sofened them up,the front suspension was set up that hard on the front that it used to drift out on the slowest of corners. this did cure both problems the handeling was much better and the next front tyre lasted two backs. as my confidence has grown i know ride the bike quite a bit harder and the front tyre is wearing much quicker than the back again don't really want to start having to replace pairs of tyres cause me fronts are wearing out quick,so even though i'm quite happy with the feel of my suspension ill back a bit of preload off and maybe a bit of comp damping. or should i leave it alone and just not drive out of corners so hard. or would upping rear ride hight up a tad more help.
just after any veiws on this and any similier experiances other members might have had.
Glyn, I used to own a sports tourer which I rode as hard as I could. The front tyre would wear out almost as quickly as the back - one time, I wore the sides out with the sprue still in place on the central groove. The answer is: a sports tourer is not a sportsbike so take it easier or just suck it up!
it's got to be summit to do with the suspension(or were just pushing to hard) as i see it when the bike is on its side in a bend the front wheel must be slightly sliping accross the tarmac. why? cause im on the power and pushing the front tyre along. this i presume is called under steer. how to sort it not really sure.
I'm no suspension expert i'm afraid but the original MEZ4's and the current D208's have both worn the fronts out before the rears. I do like to use the brakes though which might be a pointer!
