Is there too much censorship on this board - DELETED

Am sick of having posts hijacked so I've deleted this one.

Webteam - the genereal concensus is that you guys are doing a great job. You will not get any complaints from me, keep up the good work. I know it's a thankless task.

must say i was very surprised by the landslide result of the poll.
i believe the board is run/managed very well and it's good to see that the majority agree
shame the poll couldn't go on a few more days , but fully understand why you pulled it

keep up the good work mt

I'll run it again as long as the webteam are happy to delete posts from anyone trying to hijack it, howver I think it has served it's purpose and shown that on the whole, the team have got it bang on.

Yeti, what is the Latin for "Could you possibly be any more sycophantic" ?

Webteam, please delete this post as it clearly represents a dangerously subversive attempt to hijack the thread.

Mood: Still having fun!
I read the thread last night and was encouraged by what was then 22 for us getting it right and only 1 against (wonder who that was then???). I did not delete it, and actually don't think it was the "webteam" as we have an area we move things to rather than just delete so as to keep the evidence. - Perhaps interesting to know that at times we censor to avoid legal action against the person writing it, - we still have backups of threads that would have one person arrested by Surrey Police or at least charged with slander and likely loosing his franchise for his business after he so eloquently described his customers. There are “others” who can moderate or delete you know?

It's not an easy job as at times a judgement has to be made that is going to get a negative response, - who likes to be censored? And at times that judgement is not always based on "my" or "our" opinion but I what we believe is right for the club. And as I have said before, - I don't pretend to think that I am right all of the time, - just hope get it right some of the time.

I don't believe that some of the users of the board understand the history of how the DSC got to where we are today which is perhaps why we are at times over protective of our public image; 5 years ago when the proposal went out to form this club, - the MT elders/founders (Paul James, Monty and Chris Bushell) were as good as laughed at, - being told it would never come to anything and why did the UK need another Ducati Club? To say the least, - we were not taken seriously. That is part reason we got Foggy to be President as he then gave us credibility. We are now at the point of our own race series and a real intention to move the Club up another gear next year, - we are the best Club in the UK as we are the one going forward with a plan and I believe are considered with high regard in Italy. The other factor for what can be seen is “over protection” is what happened on the Cassoli message board, - they paid for a board as a Ducati community thing, - and after a while idiots were ****ging off Casoli on it. Does not take a genius to work out why it was shut down. It is a reality that a message board gets a “tone” very easily, one bad apple turns into two and then three etc.

The other thing to remember is that this club is for all of the members and not just the MT (as with a certain other 2 clubs I can think of) - I think I am right in saying that some of the MT, certainly Paul James did not have a Ducati freebie this year, - letting members have the race meal/evenings in front of himself. And the membership is not represented by this message board, - less than 1/10th of the membership use it., - As sucg it is an expensive resource for the members so the justification for that expense is that it has to attract new members, - and sorry but "Idle Chat" etc is not our best asset/unique selling point, - the 996,SS, ST, DSC meetings, Rideouts etc message sections are as they show a real community spirit. Negative, moaning bitchin’ stuff just turns people away.

I confess that I just hate the negative stuff, - I was taught in business that if you are in a meeting and you have to make a negative statement make sure you also give your positive solution to that negative, - or else don’t bother; the statement is worthless without the solution.

I make no excuse for wanting this club to move forward and onto bigger and better things. Some of you might be pleased to know that I will be likely moving away from the webteam thing, - onto the Pronto responsibility, - so what I type in there you can’t reply to, - although I want to introduce a members letters page so perhaps I am asking for more trouble?? – So anybody want to volunteer and join the webteam to be shot down by a few but thanked by the majority?
