Toseland a worthy mention!!Surely.....

I cant be the only one who was appalled by lack of air time the BBC gave yet again to our current WSB champion on so called "British sports personality of the year". Dear Suzi banging on about german drivers then chatting to Button on his under achievements. WSB had an amazing year and the climax was nail biting, not a ounce of coverage. Toseland looking like an on-looker , Steve Parish in the shadows. Points of view me thinks ....

It's the same for TV news and the newspapers, for example, 100,000 attend WSB at Brands Hatch.............not a mention on the TV.....................the newspapers if they do give a footnote invariably get the riders names wrong

it's a sport that does not exist............but as soon as bloody Wimbledon rears it's head we have all the tabloids giving away Tigertim masks.........unbelievable

its a sad fact though that 100,000 people at Brands is not matched by that number who would watch it on TV. What are the TV viewing figures for Wimbledon? Not far off ten million i would bet. The TV and the newspapers print/show what the majority want and the majority want football, cricket, tennis, athletics etc. At the end of the day i suppose its all about advertising revenue as well. The advertisers will pay a premium price for adverts that are going to be seen by millions.

I dont agree with all that and i would love to see motorcycle racing have a higher profile and get more exposure but at the end of the day it is a minority sport.

Hang on, Toseland is a BRITISH WORLD CHAMPION. We don't have many of those knocking around at the moment. Minority sport or not, he surely deserves a little more air time than what he got!

Think we do have a few, but you need to take the blinkers off and look outside your own sport.

Dangerous sports ironing board mountain downhill ski-ing? did we win that this year?
Kiting? Where did we come in that? Can't think if we was tops but we gave it a go.

I think the major precept for getting personality of the year is the money behind it.
Just my tuppence worth.

I agree Toseland was not given his fair exposure but to say that Jenson Button underachieved is a bit harsh for he is our only hope in making car racing exciting. We as bike lovers know our sport is exciting. It is us that watch and enjoy. Let us be grateful we are not fooled into paying money to watch a procession of cars.

Great quote from Ducati H.Q

"And that was it until Sunday, when James was invited to the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards programme at the Television Centre. The 2004 world champion was not short-listed for an award but was present in the studio."
