Bit of an odd question I know, but any idea how I can find out when someone died.
We're having some problems sorting out a property purchase (2+ years since we first viewed and still not sorted
) and yet another new problem's appeared.
Anyway, we need to find out if one of the former owners is still alive and if not, get a copy of her will. As we think she was retired back in 1962, there's a good chance she'll have popped her clogs by now!
I've tried the Records Office website, but it seems you need a date and possibly place of death in order to get a death certificate. All we know is her full name - fortunately relatively unusual - nothing about date of birth, death, address or indeed anything else at all.
Am I right in thinking only answer is to go up to the Records Office (which has moved from the conveniently placed St Catherine's House to inconvenient Islington) and trawl through every quarterly register since 1962?
