When I looked into the ABBA stand for my ZX9 I had before the Duc I wasn't too impressed. It seems to be made from the thin walled steel used for those old school tables I used to sit at(the ones where the legs fell off!) and I wasn't willing to put my £6000 worth of bike up on one of those.
A mate and I developed something similar but much stronger and made from hollow section steel instead of ERW tube. Completely stable and completed safe!
Our design is pretty generic for most bikes cause all you do is change the mounting pins when you change your bike. The idea we had was to make the stand completely rigid with no moving parts. The pins locking into place on the swinging arm pivot and everything else was welded together. I believe on the ABBA stand the whole frame slides together therefore it can slide apart....and oops!
I've only just designed a set of pins to lift my 748 and it's a bit high off the ground when it's up as the Ducati frame tube mounting points seem a lower than my ZX9 and other Jap bikes. It does the job a treat though.
I have a spare one without a set of pins I could sell of your interested as we knocked out quite a few two years ago and sold them. I may not be able to sort the pins for the spare stand immediately though.
