By the looks of things there should be a new IT help section on the board, and I though peeps on this board new a bit about computers.

I can build PC's and work my way around software and i'm employed as an AutoCAD technician (AutoCAD is probably one of the most difficult drawing packages to master) but when people try and explain networking to me i hear the first few words and then its just blah blah blah!

I'd love to understand it though.

There is loads of work out there for architectural cad technicians (like me) but unless you are capable of running a job as well then its not fantastically well paid. Good techs get at max £30k.

I do a bit of 3D in adition to my normal 2D work.

The attached file is something i did for a presentation a while ago. I've got a lot better since then!

3D pays more but fewer practices have 3D only people.

I dont know about other industries.

www.davidmcleandesign.co.uk based in deeside. i am just setting up 2 new DL360 server with dual 3.6 xeons and 2 meg cache on each with 4 gig of ram to act as a render farm for studio max
We do alot of CGI work. also have over 45 cad stations in our design dept.
i know we pay rather well too for CAD.
