URGENT IT HELP NEEDED
HELP!!

have windows XP home and set up a user password, trouble is I have forgotten it!! and the hint doesnt help - EEK! it now goes to log in screen but cant get any furter.

what can I do to bypass this/reset password? Laymen terms please....currently logged on from work but wifey very cross specially as I am away until Weds...

Used to be able to press escape to bypass it then just delete everything with a .pwl extension. Thats under 95 etc, i havent tried it under XP.

Sorry to say but your out of luck unless you can get your hands on some utils from the internet, maybe this one? http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/bootdisk.html look around the end of the page for the download.

l0phtcrack is a 'utility' I've used to break into NT 4.0 before. I'm less hands on these days so I haven't used anything like it recently.

You'll need a boot disk that can read whatever filesystem you have formatted your system partition with. The default is NTFS which can't be read from a DOS boot disk so you'll need an NTFS bootdisk if you've used it.
