Sprockets for SS

Sorry for probably repeating questions, but what size sprockets are fitted to a carbed 900ss. I have just got an engine for my Monster and i want it to retain the same spec as a SS.

What sprocket sets are used for speed? What sprocket sets are used for aceleration?

What stage jet kits are being used as well?

It's probably 15 front as std as used on many Ducatis. You are probably better off putting a 14t front for everyday riding as it gives better acceleration and "mid-range". Personally, for the sake of chain life I'd leave the 15 on though and go up a few teeth on the rear. Small gearbox output sprockets really can bugger chain life.

I can't help you with jets I'm afraid. Best speak to Baines for that. I am not sure if the SS and Monster airboxes are different. If they are different then the chances are that you will have to get the bike set up properly instead of just putting in the std jets.

Somebody here will know about the rear sprocket...try Iconic944 as he seems to be a font of wisdom when it comes to these bikes.

The length of chain depends upon sprockets being used - if I were you I would phone Rob Brewer at B&C Express just outside Lincoln. He'll be able to give a number of gearing and chain alternatives.

The air boxes and carbs are the same so i have not got a problem there!

Just jet sizes and rear sprocket!!

carbed SS has 37 tooth rear sprocket as standard, but I have increased mine to a 39 tooth one for quicker acceleration and it also makes the bike feel less lumpy at low speeds in higher gears as it is revving just that little more, as for chain length I think its 98 links as standard

std was 15/37 but most switch to 13/39. some go to 40-42 for better acceleration but lower top end (but then you will prolly need a longer chain).

15/39 or 15/41 if you like acceleration more than 130 mph speeds.
