Some advice needed on a 748 please.

Currently in the throws of buying a 748 well this one maybe will obviously go up and have a look sound to check everything is ok. The seller says the reserve is 3300 its not top dollar but neither is the bike from the descripstion. Any advise would be of great help what do i need to look for imparticular and do you reckon 3300 is a fair price. By the way the seller say he needs to sell to pay for credit cards so do you reckon he could be flexible on price and how much would anyone reckon?

Think i might be tempted to spend and extra £1k and get something a bit newer. I could just see it beeing a money pit and the later bikes are certainly more reliable.

Not to get hung up on 9 year old bikes and service history etc, but, you need to know it's had regular belt and oil changes. Also April 1997 may be around the time when they changed to the much better electric's (Jap stuff I think). It may be a late 1996 bike with "difficult" electrics. At less than £3k I would say a cheap enough bike if it's in good condition. If you keep looking around you will find one for a few quid more, but, also a bit newer with better history and the newer electrics.

Is it just me, or are the graphics on the old ones 100x nicer? That little Ducati logo above the nearside headlight makes me drool.

It looks tidy enough. It's definately pre TPG tho. £3300 is not far off the mark. It's certainly not worth £4k on the market at the moment.
HPI check is very valid. His reply to the service history question is a little off the cuff. I'd check it out. New belts and shims................could've been 2 years ago??
