£80 fine for killing a motorcyclist

I read today in the Metro newspaper that an uninsured / unlicensed car driver killed a motorcyclist by pulling out in front of him and was given an £80 fine !!

What is this country coming too. He should have been given 5-10years. The DVLA runs tv adverts warning drivers to watch out for bike riders and back it upt with punishment like that !!!

Hello flanagaj,

was this in Roehampton? West London radio 2 news reports were repeating this one last night, maybe a different incident.

I agree though, it stinks

Same old story with everything that's going wrong in this country right now The gov, law, society only takes note of issues/problems if they are given enough 'media coverage' and that only comes through raising a protest, petition, demonstration etc and drawing their attention to it. Until that's done it all gets pushed under the carpet.
The buck stops with the government, only they, after trillions of processes (in triplicate of course), have the actual power to change things, but when they are fuelled by this celebrity/fame/popularity craving that the main of society also seems addicted to then there's little hope of the 'right thing' ever happening in the UK, and like it or not the government departments are a reflection of society!!
Rant over (for now)
Condolences to the family of the biker killed

Just got my tax disc through this morning with the note - "Failure to display will result in a fine of £200"
So a life is worth less than a tax disc.

Another example of extremes within the system!! Killing someone like this is the same pulling the trigger.

The rider would have been alive if this knacker sack had not been driving when he wasn't allowed.

Yorkie.
