Coolant capacity

Hiya Guys,
In the haynes book it says 3 1/2 litres of coolant is this right???? When i drained the old stuff out i only got 2 1/2 litres out, is that normal and am i right in thinking that some of the old coolant stays in the system or should it all have been drained out. So far i have got about 2 1/2 litres back in the system and i doubt if there is room for another litre as the header tank is up to the limit

I'm guessing you did not get the full volume out of the system when you drained it. There will normally be some left in the engine.

Only a 1/3rd of the system capacity. I'm no expert but it sounds about right to me.

You'll never get all the coolant out without a complete strip down. If you want to get the maximum out, remove the hoses fully and put the bike on the side stand. You'll still get some trapped in the cylinders and heads though.
You'll maybe get 3 litres out that way.
