Lack of output shaft bearing

On the way home tonight - thought i had been shot through the left foot bit of a clatter, going no where, pulled the clutch in faster thatn a sneeze. NO...not belt. Hope its the clutch.....on closer inspection the ball bearing resting between the swing arm pivot and the front sprocket cover kind of gave it away, slack chain.........took off the cover and gave the drive shaft a lovely wiggle. Isn't life pooooh.
Can't see any case damage........this is a 97 - 916BP with 4000 genuine miles on the clock.

4th owner.....in my first 400 miles.

Dodgy bearing?

Chain run too tight for some time??????

Pooh happens?

Any guesses at a bottom end/gearbox rebuild.........please get the decimal point in the right place.

Regards

Nige
