New 800 clutch probs

Has anyone else had problems with badly slipping clutches on the SS's, mines about 4 months old and it's horrendous. Ive booked it in for inspection under warranty so i guess we'll find out.

Mine does slip occasionally when pulling off - but has never slipped when under way - no matter how hard I try to gas her up.

Sounds like a warrenty check-up might be called for?

Good luck - Frank

My 999 used to slip as I tried to set off at any sort of decent pace.A clean up and an open clutch cover sorted it.
I borrowed a 1000DS Monster while the 999 had its service and the clutch on that slipped badly. It had only done 1800 miles. My Multistrada,on the other hand, has done over 2k miles and the clutch has been problem free.I have heard tho, that the 'strada is fitted with alloy plates to quieten the clutch down.Might be worth considering.

The 800 is a bored out version of the 750 so it has a wet clutch.

Ah,yes,of course it is.

I've got a '99 750ss with wet clutch :-)

Only done 3500miles since I bought it. The bike's done approx 9000miles. I can't find any evidence in the service book of it having any new clutch fitted.

Having said that I've recently noted a tiny bit of slippage when starting off. I made a mental note to self to get the clutch checked at the next service.

Can't be any more help I'm afraid. Let us know what the warranty check reveals.

Phill

Ducati are replacing the clutch but when I asked why it wore out so prematurely, worryingly no one could give me an answer. (Friday afternoon clutch eh!)

Hoorah, new clutch fitted under warranty (took about a month to turn up). Didn't realise how bad the old one was........happy now. See how long this one lasts
