That was the title of my local swiss bike mag's feature on the 1098, followed up by the statement - quote "It puts the 999 out to retirement".
The Jurno was at the Kyalami launch and now he just cannot stop praising the 1098 - say's it is better in every department on the track, on the road, and in the service bay than the 999 (which he say's Ducati told him that it has never sold in anything like the numbers worldwide that Ducati had forecast) but they do have a very strong order book already for the 1098.
Here in Switzerland the bike will cost you: 1098 £12,700 - 1098S £15,300 and the Tricolore £17,500 (all approx due to exchange rate variations) plus all the local registration taxes which vary from depending on which Kantone you live in (ie 26 variations).
Delivery: 1098S is available in showrooms now. 1098 March'07.
Have fun guys n gals - but if you want a real test ride on the road for 2 days before you buy you could do this:
Malaga 19th to 22 Jan inclusive - flight, half board, hotel and 1098 - £262
Be quick - closing date for registration/booking 20th Dec and limited places.
The catch - prices are from Switzerland so you have to get yourself here first at your own extra cost. For bookings/details see: www.grisoni-racing.ch
