swing arm side play

my 94 900ss has play in the swing arm i have shimmed the side play out if there was any but there is still movement front to back i have been told that it is ok and i can see that you need a certain ammount as there are needle rollers in there as oppossed to taper bearings but what is the acceptable ammount? any advice would be much appreciated thanks

Steve, or is it Stephen?

Ask Nelly at cornerspeed. He's recently had my SS for some work and found that the swingarm bolt etc was very worn
I guess, but Im no mechanic that it should be a diy job, but then, I dont know the difference between a brake pad and a clutch spring!
