O/T - Memory Lane - Raleigh Chopper

There was a thread on here before about this fine machine! I think it must have been lost in the last 'General Strike' (sorry couldnt resist).

Just seen a new Chopper today for the first time in a local Halfords - BOY! Did the memories come flooding back.....dodgy handling, lousy brakes, painful butt and wheelies for as long as you like !!!!

I even remember wearing my brothers leather yellow with black and white blocks Yam*ha jacket !!!

The new one sadly does not have the top bar mounted gear shifter - I remember some daft euro law being mentioned. Likewise the saddle is not a long as I remember but, grip shift type change and proper 'V' brakes look well impressive.

But I dare not put another bike in the house - lol

Chopper 2004

Happy Memories

Mood: Channel Swim is now a (bad) memory not a dream
only the rich kids had them near me. We used to make chopper look-a-likes from old bikes with a big rear wheel and extended forks and a little wheel on the front and big 'ape hangers' or cut off bars like Dennis Hopper. Great days.

I still have my Carlton Cobra 'racer' I bought at £1 per week from my paper and milk round. I had it 'serviced' last year at it's ripe old age of 30. Still love the chrome effect look of it.

Exactly right Mrs W.

check out the weblink in my very first post and see the big vacant space in front of the seat....its where the 'Turbo' T-bar shifter used to be (excuse me adding my own words in - LOL)

I'm just glad its in Ducati red
