What\'s the standard ST screen like ?

Just wondering how good the standard screen is, or if I need to order a high screen, or even a flip-up screen.

Do you guys just use the standard screen or have you changed it ?

I see there is a comfort screen/top faring, but that seems to be a lot to change...

Cheers,
John.

I'm 6'2" and i get on okay with the standard screen. However i noticed a huge improvement when i changed helmets! My new Shoei XR900 or whatever is called is so much more stable than the one i had before. Rushjob lent me a high screen to try but to be honest i got half way through fitting it and took it off again - i just couldnt handle how it looked. Never actually rode the bike with it fitted.

The comfort kit has bar raisers as well i think. Its only a half hour job to change the top fairing though. They crop up on Ebay now and again.

Being all of an inch taller than Rockhopper i think the standard screen looks a lot better but isn't tall enough for high speed work.

I use the Ducati higher screen and it makes sustained 100+mph cruising comfortable (only in Germany of course). This is also a lot cheaper than the comfort kit.

So one mans meat is anothers poison, or its true an inch really does make a difference.

I'm normal size 5'10" but broad of shoulder( ) and although the normal screen is ok, the high screen is better for long distance work.
Problem is, it isn't the prettiest screen on the block, so for that reason I've taken mine off & put the standard one back on.
No doubt I'll change my mind again soon.
If you want to see what the high screen looks like, take a peek here.....

High or Low

John
I am Five/ten and medium build (11n1/2stone) and do all my riding with the standard screen. Yes I have tried the "High" screen (I bought one!) and for me the std screen gave the best results even at very high speeds. I use a Schuberth Concept flip-up helmet.

So if you ever want a "high" screen and are touring near switzerland just contact me and it can be yours for the price of a couple of beers. Fitting is simple.

Thanks people.
I can see why you took it off rushjob
Athelstan if I find myself heaoing your way I'll buy you that beer, not sure if I'll take the screen though

Should have said, I'm about 5'10", broad shoulders, and, well, slightly rounded

I think I'll stick withthe standard one for now and see how i get on with it. Just I'd seen a lot of talk about the big screens and comfort screens on another forum, so thought I'd ask here who actually used them and thier opinions.

Cheers,
John. (hoping it doesn't snow this weekend ! )

I reckon that you need both......
I have the original one for everyday use as its looks better and works fine for a
6'3" weakling like me, and use the higher one for "continental" touring.
If you want to try matching the thing up , to see what it looks like, you are welcome to come & do so. So agree with Athelstan , high one works fine but looks s****.
I dunno, each to their own.

I actually put a performance low screen on mine, I'm also 5'11" 11 1/2 stone and found the lower screen gave less wind noise round the helmet than the standard one-each to their own I guess.
