Things looking up?

18 active posts today on DSC (only 14 on ISC but a mighty 100 on ducatisti).

We have the trackday and the AGM coming up, both of which will be important for me in deciding whether to continue in this club. I hardly ever use the other websites, other than to see what people are up to and I don't have a Ducati anymore, although, never say never, I still fancy a little 696 in red.

My membership is due now, in fact it's now lapsed. I only really keep paying my 20 for a few reasons:

1. The DSC trackday is the best couple of days on track bar none and I enjoy instructing on it. (I can go on as many trackdays as I like obviously). I wonder how many people I will know at this years event - I used to know pretty much everyone and everyone knew me, I very much doubt that will be the case this year!
2. Pronto is still worth having and I enjoy writing for it and reading other people's articles. (but then I write other places and can buy a bike mag every month).
3. This has been and could still be a good club and I don't want to see it go down for the sake of people like me giving up.

There are plenty out there who are praying the DSC trackday will be empty and we'll lose money and it won't be a success and DUK will find something wrong with the accounts and members will diminish until the club folds etc etc blah blah, they can't wait to see it fail to rub people's noses in it and justify their own actions in their minds, but I would like to see it rise from the ashes.

However, I find it hard to see how it will grow and develop with so many people leaving and no real change whatsoever since last year (don't mention the war).

Is the AGM still on at the trackday? Yes it is, but you'd hardly notice as there has been so little mentioned. (is this deliberate?).

I have to pay my 20 to attend the trackday and I'll probably do that because I promised Monty I would and he's a friend), but this could be it for me unless I see some real change following the AGM.

yes, threads with a reply today, was 18:14:100 when I wrote this, clearly not a contest, room for all etc, just a comparison...some people are more chatty than others, some like to talk the legs off a donkey...some are donkeys for that matter.....tee hee

If I keep answering my own posts I could get the numbers up (and of course get the perfect answer), but don't particularly like talking to myself..... :-)

I would like to see all 'clubs' succeed

Hi John,

There will be a group up from the Hants region, so at least you'll recognise some of the attendees You better be there, still need some tuition and some virgin sliders that need to be introduced to tarmac

As for the AGM and any real changes resulting from it, historical data doesn't seem to show that this is likely unfortunately I too now frequent other Ducati related sites (clubs) and continue to make new friends along with many "old" ones, ride and socialise with them all, the reason I joined THIS club in the first place. Could be a while before you see any phoenixes

See ya there for a great couple of days.

Hants - Meet Popham Airfield every 2nd Sunday of the Month @ 1pm

Are things looking up ?

To me the DSC was always about like minded people getting together to enjoy shared interests, such as Ducati ownership and racing.
Trips to Silverstone to watch some guy known as WJB race a TZ250 owned by some old codger known as Monty, or poping along to the 2002 Megameet to try and catch up with a few more names that I knew from the vibrant message board that had proved me with lots of useful info and some badly needed parts to get my first Ducati on the road.

I soon got to know quite a few members but had no real idea of who the MT were or if they even existed, all I Knew is that things happened such as the Hospitality dinners, BMF and the DSC trackdays, Monthly meets/rideouts etc were the terrain of the regular members, friends getting together for a chin wag and a ride. There seemed a ceratinm harmony to it all so it does beg the question where did things go wrong
Was it Egos, was it DD, did the club just get to bigor did it fail to move with the times.

If the answer is known then maybe the situation can be rectified, whats broken and how can it be fixed.

From my perspective the regular members have moved on for what ever reason as could be seen from those that turned out for the rideout to the Ace Cafe, if truth be told the same small group of us would have been getting together even if the DSC had never existed as we were mates prior to our Ducati ownership and will remain so along time after.

Still I'm looking forward to the DSC trackday at Cadwell on the 15th/16th June and catching up with friends I haven't seen for a while and as with all my years in the DSC I'll attend the AGM and support those that are brave enough to step forward to help with the running of the club, me I'm not that brave !!!

Nah thats fine, was just trying to work out what the statistic was!

I am no longer a member and won't be for the foreseeable future. Having said that I hope everything the club does is a success and maybe once the dust settles and the positions are clear I will rejoin......

Bugger...just typed my thoughts out on this and lost the damned lot. That's what you get for typing at the end of a long day and hitting the 'back' button instead of 'post'

I'm going to bed now so I'll do it in the morning
