DVD recording
As DVD recorders are cheap now, I thought I would buy one and transfer all our VHS home vidio's to DVD.
I did a test record and found I could only watch the DVD on the DVD player/recorder I used to record the DVD on ,the other 8 dvd players and player /recorders in PC's would not read the disk.
Am I missing something or is the a gissmo I need to allow me to copy my home movie's.
I'm sure there must be someone on this forum that knows the answer.
cheers

your other players may be too old to play r/w dvds. the recorder should have a facility to "close" the dvd. That should make it readable.

Just out of interest,

can you close the DVD's on your PC?

I got a DVD off a mate who burnt the James Martin Mille Miglia thing off from his Sky+ for me.

My new Sony DVD won't play it.

Can I put said DVD into my PC and use PC software to "close" it or does it have to be "closed" on the recorder that burnt it.......?

Will try it anyway when I get home but just read this thread and thought I'd ask.

It would be worth a try but not 100% certain it will work. The DVD player in your PC would certainly have to be a DVD recorder (R/W DVD) for it to have any chance of working.
