New Battery - Engine light

Hi all,

I'm new to Ducati's and have just bought a 999. However I have found that the battery needed replaced, which was done at the dealer's expense. Now the Engine light is on constantly, but have no loss in power or engine start performance. All seems normal.

Rather then ride it. Anyone know why this has happened. Is this due to the battery change or have I got a problem?????

Thanks for your help.

Brian

Hi Brian,

You should be able to see an error code in the display which will tell you why the engine light is coming on.

Check your owners manual for how to do this and also what the error code means.

If you don't have an owners manual you can download one online from Ducati:

After a rebuild I had a similar problem on my 999. The bike was looking for an input from the speed sensor. All I had to do was spin the rear wheel and the eobd light cleared.

Thanks all,

I didn't get any error codes would you believe, so phoned the dealer and they say that because the bike has been sitting for a while in my garage (bad weather in Scotland) that it should go out after a good run.

Awaiting better weather !!!!!!!!!

Thanks again all

Brian

Yeah... I'm away at the moment (work!!). As soon as I get back I'll give it a run. If that doesn't solve it I'll contact Martin.

Thanks

It might just be a low battery warning, especially if the new battery hasn't been fully charged before fitting.

I got the trouble and strife to put it on trickle charge. Thats a week now and yet the light still comes on. As I said, as soon as I get back I'll take it for a good blast, weather permitting!!!!
