Yes, my ST is currently wearing one of eBay's finest sidepanels because the piece of plastic that holds the brass insert on the original split on one of our rideouts and left the panel at a very funny angle.

Mind you, it was the right hand panel, and when an ST crashes the side panel takes a bit of grief with part of the bike's 200 odd kg landing on it (the exhaust, bars and lower fairing take the rest), and my side panel was involved in two track day lowsides...the insert didn't give up for nearly a year after that, si it didn't do so badly.

Until I got the eBay panel, I drilled a small hole near where the insert should have been and tiewrapped it on.

Mind you...You have to watch eBay, this item was described as very light scratches that should polish out, but when it arrived it had a split in it as well, near the bolt hole at the tail end, and the finish was rubbish...it'll spray up ok though and it only cost me a fiver, so I can't moan

Mine broke at an early stage but a repair with a plastic repair kit (sorry forgooten the brand name) lasted for 18 months and lots of miles before selling he bike.

Worked a treat and was completely invisible when the side panel was back on.

Just put the offending brass bit back in place and build up the repair stuff around it to a far greater thickness than the original plastic.
