Ask CC. He has owned both. From what he has said elsewhere the 1198 appears to have the most devastating mid-range power. I guess the trick would be managing to extract the performance from either!

OTOH, it's very easy to extract more power from an 800ss...

I've heard of it and seen it on 748R's with the alloy subframe, but not on a Bip. As for how Ducati might see it I can't say, but with that mileage and age you might find it difficult.

I can't say about a DD bike, but I get around 15-18mpg out of my 800ss at race pace. The road bike does 40-60mpg depending on my mood at the time. I suspect the DD guys see not too dissimilar...
