Fairing rivets

What is the best way to remove the "rivets" to seperate the upper and lower fairings? I'm not sure how to get the rubber backs off without doing any damage.

996s - pulling away from standstill.

As a fairly new Ducati owner I find that I am not able to pull away from standstill as smoothly as other bikes I have ridden. Until the engine is compleatly warm it will have the tendency to stall....

I've heard it said that running the engine on the sidestand is not a good idea as the oil collects to one side and does not lubricate correctly.
