Yeah the carbon no.plate holder fits onto the origional brackets.Should only be few quid from a dealer.Have a look at the pic.
Pic only shows one bracket,.....you do need two!

Just remember to connect the 'earthing' tag and fit some sort of heat sink.

The 'proper' 749/999 stand has little rubber cups that fit under the chain adjusters.They do work...

Sounds like you have the assymetric system and not the full 2-1-2 jobbie.Fairly straight forward to fit,....jusy dont expect to fit...

As 4D says strip the clutch and wipe out all the dust.Doddle of a job,....just take off the clutch cover.(4x5mm allen bolts)
Then remove the pressure...
