Thinking about lapping the valves on my DD bike while the heads are off. Would I be right in thinking that lapping the valves will see them sitting deeper in the head, thereby throwing the shims...

I've never had a duke that didn't do this after a couple of weeks. I tend to flush it every 4-6 months and it works fine, so I shouldn't be too concerned unless you start to lose clutch...
