For the 955 conversion you should idealy start with a 916sp engine as this will have the larger valves, better crank & rods. I believe the 916sp also has larger crank case openings to suit the 955...

I believe the single injector mod can be the way to go on the 996 but I would only do this if had a specific chip for the job. FIM do a single injector chip, the only downside is £100ish cost....

I would remove battery from bike & charge with optimate on bench for 24hrs. If you have a meter measure voltage, if voltage on charge is high above 15V I would suspect battery, if below 12V suspect...
